Tran Phu Memorial Site
The Tran Phu Memorial Site is located in Duc Tho commune, Ha Tinh province, the hometown of Comrade Tran Phu – the first General Secretary of the Party. This is a historically significant site, preserving the imprints of the life and revolutionary career of this steadfast communist fighter. Comrade Tran Phu was born on May 1, 1904, into a patriotic scholarly family. In October 1930, he was elected the first General Secretary of the Party and directly drafted the 1930 Political Thesis. In April 1931, he was arrested by the French colonialists and died on September 6, 1931, at Cho Quan Hospital in Saigon, at the age of 27. Before his death, he left behind the famous admonition: "Maintain your fighting spirit." In 1999, his remains were brought back to his hometown for burial. The tomb is located on Quan Hoi Mountain, facing Tam Soa Wharf – the confluence of the Ngan Sau, Ngan Pho, and La rivers. Within the grounds are a memorial stele and the tombs of the comrade's parents and younger brother. About 1km from the tomb is the Tran family ancestral temple and the Tran Phu Memorial Exhibition House, which houses many documents, images, and artifacts related to the comrade's revolutionary life. Today, the Tran Phu Memorial Site has become a destination for generations to come, offering incense, learning about history, and commemorating the first General Secretary of the Party – an exemplary figure of patriotism, unwavering will, and indomitable spirit in the face of the enemy. Tomb of Nguyen Lo Trach
The tomb of Nguyen Lo Trach, also known as Ha Nhan and Ky Am, is located in the Don Cat area, Ke Mon village, Phong Phu ward, Phong Dien town, Hue city. Born on February 15, 1853, he was a progressive thinker during the reign of Emperor Tu Duc, notable for his ideas on national reform amidst the turbulent times in Vietnamese society. Nguyen Lo Trach left behind valuable ideas in three famous works: "Thoi Vu Sach Thuong," "Thoi Vu Sach Ha," and "Thien Ha Dai The Luan," reflecting his vision and proposals for national renewal and consolidation. He died in 1895 and was initially buried in Binh Dinh. In 1957, his descendants reinterred his remains in his hometown of Ke Mon. The tomb is circular, with a simple structure, approximately 3 meters in diameter, and walls 40 cm high and 20 cm thick. With historical values associated with the life and reformist ideas of Nguyen Lo Trach, his tomb was recognized as a National Historical Monument on December 28, 2001. Thien Quy Pagoda
Thien Quy Pagoda, also known as Kenh Pagoda, is a distinctive architectural masterpiece in Dong Hung District, Hung Yen Province. Built during the late Ly Dynasty and early Tran Dynasty, the pagoda has undergone numerous renovations and still retains many traces of its ancient architecture. The complex includes a triple gate, the main sanctuary, the ancestral hall, the Mother Goddess shrine, the guardian hall, a bell tower, and a system of ancient pagodas, creating a grand traditional Buddhist space. The architecture is particularly notable for the intricate carvings on the rafters, brackets, and reliefs, along with many Buddha statues, guardian deity statues, and valuable religious artifacts. The pagoda also preserves many stone steles, bronze bells, stone chimes, and ancient artifacts, including a bell cast during the Tay Son Dynasty. Notably, Thien Quy Pagoda is renowned for its system of ancient pagodas and architectural relics of significant historical and artistic value. Beyond being a place of religious worship, the pagoda is also closely linked to the community's cultural life through the Thien Quy Pagoda Festival, held annually with Buddhist rituals, processions, artistic performances, and many folk games. The Tien Luc complex of communal houses, temples, and pagodas.
Located in Tien Luc commune, Lang Giang district, Bac Giang province (now Bac Ninh), the Tien Luc complex of temples and pagodas is a unique cultural and religious space, comprising Phuc Quang Pagoda, Tien Luc Temple, Thuan Hoa communal house, Vien Son communal house, and a thousand-year-old wild cinnamon tree. The structures within the complex were built long ago and were restored and renovated during the Le Trung Hung period. To this day, many structures still retain relatively intact ancient architecture along with exquisite carvings such as dragons, animals, fairies riding dragons, and scenes of folk life. The highlight of the complex is the thousand-year-old wild cinnamon tree, closely associated with the beliefs and cultural life of the local people. Legend says that the tree was once bestowed the title "National Lord of the Great Wild Cinnamon Tree" by King Le Canh Hung, becoming a sacred symbol of the Tien Luc region. The complex also preserves many valuable Buddha statues, religious artifacts, and antiques, notably nearly 100 statues at Phuc Quang Pagoda and many artifacts dating from the Le and Nguyen dynasties. Phu Huu Temple
Phu Huu Temple is a national-level architectural and artistic relic, currently located in Phu Hoa hamlet, Phu Huu commune, Dong Thap province. The temple was built in the early 19th century, initiated by Mr. Thieu Quang Loc, who mobilized local people to build it to worship the tutelary deity. In 1852, during the reign of Emperor Tu Duc, the temple was granted the title "Tutelary Deity of the Locality". In 1903, due to erosion by swirling water, the temple was relocated and restored to its current location. Phu Huu Temple impresses with its airy space, surrounded by ancient trees, with the Sa Dec River in front and the Cai Tau Ha River to the side. The complex includes a screen wall, lotus platform, ceremonial gate, the Five Elements Shrine, the Tiger Shrine, the God of Agriculture Shrine, the Lady of the Land Shrine, and the temple dedicated to the tutelary deity. Every year, the temple holds three main ceremonies: the Lower Field Ceremony on the 17th of June, the Upper Field Ceremony on the 17th of September, and the Ancestral Temple Ceremony on the 17th of December (lunar calendar). This is not only a place of religious worship for the community but also preserves the distinctive cultural and architectural values of the Southern region of Vietnam. Southern Vietnam Radio and Telecommunications Agency
The Southern Vietnam Radio and Telecommunications Agency – A Heroic Legacy in the Heart of Dong Thap. The Southern Vietnam Radio and Telecommunications Agency historical site is located at the Go Muoi Tai base in the Dong Thap Muoi region, now Phu Cuong commune, Tam Nong district, Dong Thap province. Established and operating secretly from 1945 to 1954, it was one of the first cradles of revolutionary communications in Southern Vietnam. Through the passage of time and the vicissitudes of history, it has been rebuilt and restored into a solemn historical site. The grounds are highlighted by the majestic Monument to the Southern Vietnam Radio and Telecommunications Agency, along with memorial structures commemorating the contributions of previous generations. This space not only preserves the memory of the rudimentary machinery repair workshop and the former telegraph operator training school, but also marks the glorious milestones during the nine years of service in the resistance war against the French, maintaining the uninterrupted flow of information between the Southern battlefield and the Central Government. Not only is it historically significant for the postal service, but the site is also a brilliant symbol of the patriotic spirit of the Southern region. Long Thien Pagoda
Long Thien Pagoda – A Long-Standing Buddhist Landmark in Dong Nai Province. Located on the right bank of the Dong Nai River, in Buu Hoa Ward, Bien Hoa City, Long Thien Pagoda was built in 1664 by Patriarch Thanh Nhac. It is one of the oldest pagodas in Dong Nai and is considered the cradle of Southern Vietnamese Buddhism. In 1991, the pagoda was classified as a National Historical Monument. Despite numerous renovations, particularly in 1748, 1842, and 1952, the pagoda retains its ancient and solemn appearance. The grounds feature many ancient trees, old stupas, and the stupa of Patriarch Thanh Nhac. The main hall is notable for its collection of Buddha statues, horizontal plaques, couplets, and exquisite carvings depicting traditional themes such as the four mythical creatures, flowers and birds, and fish transforming into dragons. Beyond its architectural and religious value, Long Thien Pagoda is also deeply connected to the history of Dong Nai province. During the resistance war, the pagoda served as a gathering place for monks, nuns, and Buddhist followers to participate in patriotic activities and contribute to the national liberation struggle. Dai Yen communal house
Dai Yen communal house in Ngoc Ha ward, Ba Dinh district, Hanoi, is a relic associated with the "Thirteen camps" area west of Thang Long citadel from the Ly dynasty. The communal house worships Princess Ngoc Hoa, who is said to have been a 9-year-old girl who made achievements in the war against the Champa army in 1104. Disguising herself as a man and following her father into battle, Ngoc Hoa disguised herself as a betel and areca seller and pipe tobacco seller to infiltrate the enemy camp, collect information and make signals to help our troops defeat the enemy. After her triumph, she returned to Dai Yen and transformed into the place where the communal house is built today. The communal house was greatly overhauled in 1886, including the communal house gate, left and right vu, front altar, grand altar and back palace. In the harem, there are still altars, statues, dragon thrones, tablets and ordinations through dynasties. Every year, the Dai Yen village festival is held on the 14th day of the third lunar month, with many rituals and especially the "Flower Offering" dance to commemorate Princess Ngoc Hoa. Cao Thang Church
Cao Thang Church is located on a small hill in Son Tien commune, Ha Tinh province, and is a place to commemorate Cao Thang (1863–1893) - a talented general of the Huong Khe insurgent army and a close associate of Phan Dinh Phung in the anti-French colonial movement at the end of the 19th century. Cao Thang is famous for his military leadership and especially for researching and manufacturing French 1874-style rifles to serve the Huong Khe uprising. He died in 1893 when he was only 30 years old. After that, the Cao family's descendants and local people built a church to commemorate and pay tribute to the hero. The church was built in 1907, made of ironwood, has three compartments, four trusses, and a tiled roof, with bold traditional architecture. Inside, there are also dragon thrones, tablets, mirror stands and gilded lacquered worship objects. The location marking the crimes of the French colonialists in Lan Ang
The site marking the crimes of the French colonialists at Lan Ang, Hung Vu commune, Bac Son district, Lang Son province is a revolutionary historical relic associated with the years of arduous struggle of the army and people of Bac Son. Lan Ang used to be a safe revolutionary zone, a place to hide and protect revolutionary cadres and agencies, and a military training location for guerrilla forces. In particular, on February 9, 1945, the French colonialists and their henchmen ambushed and murdered comrade Hoang Van Han - Commander of the Bac Son Guerrilla Team in 1940. Comrade Hoang Van Han's sacrifice aroused hatred for the enemy and strengthened the local people's determination to fight. Lan Ang was also associated with the development process of the Bac Son revolutionary force, from the Bac Son Guerrilla Team to the National Salvation Army I, contributing to creating an important premise for the August Revolution of 1945. Today, at the monument there is a stele marking the historical event in 1945. Bo Luy - Lo Gach Pagoda
Bo Luy - Lo Gach Pagoda: Unique vestiges of Oc Eo culture in Vinh Long. Bo Luy relic - Lo Gach pagoda is a special archaeological site, associated with traces of the Oc Eo culture in the Mekong Delta. The relic was discovered in the grounds of Kompong Thmo Pagoda, also known as Lo Gach Pagoda. Through excavations, archaeologists found traces of an ancient architectural complex and a large-scale earth rampart system, considered one of the notable citadels in the Southwest region. Many artifacts such as fired bricks, sandstone, bronze and gold leaf carvings of elephants and lotus flowers were discovered here, showing the unique historical, cultural and artistic value of the monument, dating back to the 8th - 9th centuries. With outstanding values, in 2017, Bo Luy - Lo Gach Pagoda was recognized as a National Monument. Luu Cu II Relics
Luu Cu II Relics - Vestiges of Oc Eo culture nearly 2,000 years old. Located in Luu Cu II hamlet, Luu Nghiep Anh commune, Vinh Long province, Luu Cu II Relic is a typical Brahmanical religious architectural ruin of the Oc Eo culture, dating back nearly 2,000 years. The site was discovered in 1985 and excavated during 1986–1987. Through research, archaeologists determined that the structure had two phases of existence, from the first century to the fifth century AD, associated with the development of the Funan Kingdom. Luu Cu II architecture has a large scale, the foundation is elaborately built with many angles and surrounding corridors. In particular, excavations have discovered many artifacts related to Hindu beliefs, including lingams, yoni and artifacts associated with the god Shiva. With special historical, archaeological and architectural value, in 1990, Luu Cu II was recognized as a national historical-cultural relic. This is one of the relatively intact Oc Eo vestiges, helping visitors better visualize an important historical period of the ancient Southern region. Quang Trieu Assembly Hall (Ong Pagoda Can Tho)
Located at 32 Hai Ba Trung Street, Can Tho City, Quang Trieu Assembly Hall, commonly known as Ong Pagoda, is a typical religious building of the Cantonese Chinese community. The pagoda was built in 1894, completed in 1896 and still retains its ancient appearance almost intact. The project stands out with its "Quoc"-shaped architecture, closed rows of houses surrounding Thien Tinh yard. The yin-yang tiled roof is elaborately decorated with images of two dragons painting pearls, fish turning into dragons, phoenixes, along with a system of reliefs, horizontal panels, parallel tureens and sophisticated wood carvings. The main hall is the place to worship Quan Thanh De Quan, along with Thien Hau Thanh Mau, Phuc Duc Chinh Than and Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva. Every year, many traditional funeral ceremonies take place here, attracting a large number of people and tourists to worship. Hiep Thien Cung
Hiep Thien Cung is located in Cai Rang district, Can Tho city, and is a long-standing religious building of the Chinese community. Formed in the 19th century, in 1856, the temple was repaired, expanded and named Quan De Temple. Due to worshiping Quan Thanh De Quan, Phuc Duc Chinh Than and Thien Hau Thanh Mau, this place was later called Hiep Thien Cung. After more than 160 years, Hiep Thien Cung still retains its ancient appearance with its "Quoc"-shaped architecture, including four closed rows of houses and a skylight in the center. The roof of the palace stands out with the shape of two dragons and pearl paintings, the roof is covered with yin and yang tiles, and many intricately carved wooden and stone structures. Inside, there is also a system of diaphragms, tureens and many decorative works with traditional artistic styles. Not only has architectural value, Hiep Thien Cung is also a place for community religious and cultural activities. Temple of President Ho Chi Minh
The Temple of President Ho Chi Minh is located in Vinh Hoi cluster, Long Duc ward, Vinh Long province, is a national historical and cultural relic, and is also a symbol of the love for Uncle Ho and the resilient revolutionary spirit of the Southern people. The temple was started on March 10, 1970, in the midst of years of fierce war. The project was built on a high sand dune, with an initial area of more than 1,223m². To avoid enemy detection and shelling, people had to secretly carry out construction at night. After many difficult months, the temple was inaugurated on January 26, 1971. The oath "Determined to defeat the enemy as a gift to Uncle Ho" expressed the deep feelings and determination of the Southern army and people. During the war, the temple was repeatedly raided, burned and bombarded by the enemy. However, local people still persistently protect and gradually rebuild the temple more firmly. Even though bombs and bullets were devastating, the project was still preserved, becoming a symbol of the indomitable will and loyalty of the Southern people towards Uncle Ho. Today, the relic area has an area of about 5.4 hectares, built and renovated through many stages. The highlight is Uncle Ho's Stilt House, restored in 2012 according to the model of Uncle Ho's stilt house in Hanoi. The relic area also has green space, exhibition houses and many images and artifacts introducing the process of building and protecting the temple during the years of resistance. For more than half a century, Uncle Ho's Temple in Vinh Long is not only a place where people offer incense to commemorate President Ho Chi Minh, but also a "red address" to educate patriotic and revolutionary traditions for generations. Set village communal house
Set village communal house is located in Set village, Dinh Tan commune, Thanh Hoa province, a land formed around the 14th - 15th centuries. According to village history, Mr. Truong Canh Tuong, a native of Yen Vuc, Hoang Hoa, was the first person to reclaim land and establish a hamlet at Quy Son mountain. From the original land named Ap Sat, residents gradually expanded to the plain, forming Sat village, now Set village. Prominent in the cultural space of the village is Set village communal house, built in 1595, under the reign of King Le The Tong. After more than 400 years with many historical changes and restorations, the communal house still retains many ancient architectural features. The communal house gate stands out with two nearly 10m high columns and a pair of parallel sentences, creating a majestic look for the monument. Set village communal house is the place to worship Admiral, Duke and General Truong Canh Phuc, Truong Dinh Le and Ngoc Goddess Truong Thi Phuong - figures revered by local people. Phu Da Communal House
Phu Da communal house is an ancient communal house in Binh Phu commune, Hanoi city, ranked as an architectural and artistic relic by the Ministry of Culture and Information in 1993. This is also a place associated with the famous water puppetry tradition of Gia village, the Nom name of Phu Da village, which used to regularly perform water puppetry at Thay pagoda. The communal house has the architecture of a horizontal building consisting of 5 compartments, 2 wings, four curved roofs and a system of 7 trusses in the style of upper and lower beams. The wooden structures in the communal house still preserve many traces of ancient architecture. In particular, the carvings of dragons, figures riding horses, and young women singing demonstrate a sophisticated artistic level, typical of 18th century fine art. The dragon image with bulging eyes, large nose, bat ears, lanceolate mane, and vividly curved body bears the artistic style of the Later Le period. Phu Da communal house worships Dao Khang, a general of the Trung sisters. According to legend, he was instrumental in helping Hai Ba Trung fight the To Dinh invaders, at the same time establishing a farm in the Phu Da area, teaching people to farm, open ditches, dig streams, contribute to building the lives of local residents and was revered as a god. Besides historical and architectural value, the communal house also preserves many worship objects with artistic value from the Le and Nguyen dynasties, especially a set of ancient water puppet statues used in performances. The altar to the ancestors of the singing and dancing profession, customarily called the Saint Nha Tro, is also a testament to the village's long-standing folk art tradition. Phu Dien Communal House
Phu Dien Communal House is a typical ancient architectural work located in the Ba Trieu Special National Monument Complex, imbued with the traditional village culture of Thanh Hoa. The relic is associated with the worship of Trieu Thi Trinh - Ba Trieu, the national heroine who stood up against the Ngo army in the 3rd century. According to legend, after Ba Trieu sacrificed on Tung Mountain, Phu Dien people built a temple to worship her and honored her as the village's tutelary god. By the 18th century, the communal house was built in the traditional village communal house architectural style. Over the centuries, the project has been preserved relatively intact by the people and has become a place for cultural and religious activities of the community. Phu Dien communal house includes main items such as Nghinh gate, Great communal house, front hall and harem. The highlight of the relic is the sophisticated wood carving art with many images of the four sacred animals: dragon, lyre, tortoise, phoenix, along with motifs of plants, flowers and images of elephants, horses, deer, chickens... The carvings not only create artistic beauty but also express the people's desire for a peaceful, prosperous life. In particular, the communal house still preserves 64 ancient decrees from feudal dynasties, which are considered precious documents reflecting the history and beliefs of the local community. Every year in the second lunar month, a traditional festival is held in Phu Dien to commemorate the merits of Ba Trieu, with sacrificial rituals, palanquin processions and many cultural activities and folk games.
